According to blogger Shana Digital, among the U.S.-domestic versions, the iPhone 16 series represents the final lineup where the SIM card slot can still be modified. The iPhone 17 series, in contrast, leaves no room for internal modifications, rendering it impossible to alter the SIM card slot. Since the launch of the iPhone 14 series, U.S.-version iPhones have embraced eSIM technology, doing away with the physical SIM card slot altogether. Nevertheless, due to the strong preference among domestic users for physical SIM cards, a market has emerged for modifying the SIM card slots in U.S.-version iPhones.
