DJI's first foray into robot vacuum cleaners, the DJI ROMO, has recently garnered user feedback highlighting a significant flaw: it fails to detect transparent obstacles, such as floor-to-ceiling windows, leading to direct collisions during cleaning. Videos circulating online demonstrate that the vacuum does not avoid these transparent surfaces as promised. In response, DJI customer service attributed the issue to an algorithmic defect, which has been escalated to the engineering team. A resolution is anticipated through an algorithm update within 1 to 2 months. In the interim, users are advised to designate unrecognizable areas as off-limits or place physical barriers. Notably, the DJI ROMO series boasts binocular fisheye vision sensors and three lidar sensors, enabling it to identify smaller obstacles in standard operational modes.
