Meituan has recently introduced an app named 'Yamia' on the App Store, branding it as a 'next-generation food discovery and social sharing community.' The platform is designed to offer users a dedicated space for documenting and sharing their dining experiences. By focusing on the food sector, Yamia aims to establish a community platform akin to Xiaohongshu, thereby distinguishing itself from Meituan's Dianping. Currently, Yamia is in its internal beta phase, necessitating an invitation code for access, and the company intends to recruit 'Recommendation Officers' in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and other cities to broaden its user base. This strategic move is viewed as Meituan's latest effort to gain more user engagement and traffic through content amidst the fierce competition in the food delivery market.
