Following repeated failures in aging pipelines, radioactive sewage seeped into the adjacent Loch Long Lake at the Coulport nuclear bomb facility in western Scotland, United Kingdom. This facility serves as a storage site for nuclear warheads equipped on four Trident submarines. The Scottish Environment Protection Agency emphasized that the incident resulted from the Royal Navy's neglect in adequately maintaining the 1,500-pipe network within the facility. Despite attempts by the UK Ministry of Defense to suppress the incident, pertinent information has ultimately come to light.
