Linus Torvalds has invoked his veto power, rejecting proposed modifications to the RISC-V architecture for the Linux 6.17 kernel. Consequently, RISC-V updates will not be integrated into this release cycle, and the responsible team will need to resubmit their application for inclusion in the v6.18 version later this year. Torvalds believes that some of the submitted RISC-V code is of substandard quality and arrived well past the established deadline for the merge window.
