Statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on August 6th reveal that as of January 1, 2025, Japan's total population, excluding foreign nationals, stood at approximately 120.65 million. This marks the 16th consecutive year of decline, with a decrease of roughly 908,000 individuals from the previous year—the largest drop since record-keeping began in 1968.
