On the 6th, Japan's Minister of Economic Regeneration, Ryosei Akazawa, expressed concerns that the United States' announcement of additional tariffs on Japanese goods, effective from August 7th, is at odds with the previously agreed upon Japan-US agreement and will exacerbate Japan's tariff burden. Akazawa urged the US to rectify the announcement, emphasizing that the earlier agreement stipulated that the total tariff rate following the increase should remain at 15%. However, the US announcement suggests an additional 15% on top of the existing tariff rate.
