Nevertheless, recent reports indicate that some 2023-model electric bicycles, equipped with 2G network cloud box devices, have suffered smart function malfunctions following the decommissioning of 2G base stations. This has necessitated additional expenses for hardware replacements, a fact not disclosed to consumers at the time of purchase. As far back as 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology had mandated that new IoT terminals refrain from using 2G/3G networks, yet manufacturers failed to take preemptive measures or inform customers accordingly. Legal experts emphasize the need for manufacturers to uphold consumers' right to information. Complaints primarily target the Niu and Ninebot brands, with some consumers voicing dissatisfaction over the handling of their customer service inquiries.
