Recently, the monkeypox outbreak has expanded its reach across numerous African nations, revealing the presence of multiple variant strains. Over the past six weeks, reports indicate that monkeypox cases have surfaced in 21 African countries. Predominantly, the IIb variant strain has been identified in West Africa, whereas the Ia and Ib variant strains have also been detected in Central and East Africa. While the situation has shown signs of improvement in certain countries, the number of cases in places like Uganda continues to climb. To date, 79 countries worldwide have reported monkeypox cases, amounting to a cumulative total of over 30,000 confirmed cases, including 119 fatalities.
