Effective August 1, the United States implemented a 15% tariff on Japanese goods. Hirotomo Nishimoto, the executive director of the Shizuoka Economic Research Institute in Japan, anticipates that this measure could lead to a reduction of approximately 0.5% in Japan's GDP. While the immediate effects are yet to be seen, Nishimoto expects these economic repercussions to gradually surface in the data beginning this autumn.
