Shanghai's market supervision authorities have recently convened platforms like Ele.me, instructing them to adopt three corrective measures. These measures encompass the complete cessation of "buy now, pay later" promotional activities, a substantial reduction in the scope of free-meal marketing, and the establishment of dedicated task forces to intensify activity monitoring, price regulation, and rider rights protection. Furthermore, these measures aim to enhance social oversight and information transparency. The Shanghai Market Supervision Bureau clarified that the objective of these summons was to gather insights into the current situation. With the newly revised Anti-Unfair Competition Law set to take effect on October 15, the Bureau has been actively engaged in legal promotion and implementation among relevant platforms, urging them to conduct self-assessments and corrections to preempt unfair competition and foster a fair and orderly business environment.
