SpaceX's Starship base, the epicenter of its most audacious project, stands out as a workplace with alarmingly high rates of employee injuries. Recent data from 2024 indicates that the injury rate at this facility is a staggering six times higher than that of comparable entities and nearly triple the average for the entire aerospace manufacturing sector. Despite the remarkable strides SpaceX has made with the Starship project, concerns over employee safety have come to the forefront. According to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) data, the Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) at the Starship base reaches an alarming 4.27 incidents per 100 employees, vastly exceeding industry benchmarks. While there has been some improvement compared to the previous year, this base continues to have the highest injury rate among all SpaceX's land-based facilities. OSHA inspections and media inquiries have further revealed numerous accidents and unreported injuries among employees, underscoring a stark contrast with significantly lower injury rates at other rocket manufacturers.
