In an effort to streamline the taskbar system tray, Microsoft initially attempted to reduce clutter in the Windows 11 preview version by displaying a shorter date and time format and eliminating the notification button. Nevertheless, owing to overwhelming negative feedback from users, this feature has been reversed. Officials have since clarified that this simplification may not reappear as an optional setting in future releases. Presently, users retain the ability to hide the notification bell button if desired.
