Recently, prominent brands such as Yadea and Ninebot have removed certain electric bicycles from multiple e-commerce platforms, focusing on clearing out inventory of models that adhere to the old national standard. The newly revised national standard for electric bicycles will come into effect on September 1, 2025, introducing several key changes: limiting the proportion of plastic parts in the entire vehicle to no more than 5.5%, enhancing flame retardant performance, allowing lead-acid battery models to weigh up to 63 kilograms, and mandating the installation of Beidou positioning systems on commercial electric bicycles. As of December 1, 2025, the sale of electric bicycles that do not comply with the new national standard will be strictly prohibited.
