Microsoft has officially recognized that the firewall logging anomaly triggered by the previously optional update KB5060829 for Windows 11 remains unresolved. Initially, on July 8, Microsoft announced that the issue had been addressed through the KB5062553 update. However, upon further examination on July 15, Microsoft revised the status of the problem to 'Confirmed,' signifying that the issue persists. Devices affected by this anomaly will exhibit an error message with Event ID 2042 in the System Event Viewer upon restart, indicating 'Configuration read failed.' This development hampers the normal monitoring of security logs by IT professionals and system administrators.
