The preliminary round results of the 5th "Pinduoduo Agricultural Research and Technology Competition" have been unveiled, showcasing four outstanding teams that have advanced to the finals. This esteemed competition drew the participation of 46 teams and over 300 individuals from across the globe, encompassing representatives from universities, research institutions, and enterprises, with 17 teams hailing from overseas. Contestants were tasked with submitting proposals for plant factories and domestic strawberry cultivation, with evaluations based on a holistic score encompassing various dimensions such as technological innovation, energy efficiency, and AI management strategies.

The finalists have demonstrated remarkable proficiency in AI-driven cultivation technology, artificial light regulation, ecological seedling production, and other pertinent areas. The finals, set to commence in September, will see these four teams engage in an intensive six-month strawberry cultivation competition within a 50-square-meter plant factory. The winning team will be determined based on key indicators like yield, quality, and energy consumption.

This competition has not only spurred advancements in agricultural technology but also fostered a deeper integration between industry, academia, and research, thereby injecting fresh momentum into the evolution of smart agriculture.
