On July 14, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of India issued a directive mandating all domestic airlines to thoroughly inspect the fuel switch locking devices installed on Boeing 787, 737, and certain other aircraft models by July 21. This directive is a response to prior concerns expressed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding the potential malfunction of these locking mechanisms, coupled with the preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation into the crash of an Indian Airlines Boeing 787-8 passenger jet.
