In collaboration with Microsoft, OpenAI, and Anthropic, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) has announced the establishment of a nationwide Artificial Intelligence Education Academy this fall. This initiative aims to provide free AI training and courses for teachers, prioritizing both online and offline learning opportunities. The Academy intends to train 400,000 teachers over the next five years, ultimately benefiting more than 7.2 million students. The comprehensive training program covers the fundamentals of AI technology, safety ethics, teaching design methodologies, and other pertinent topics. The trio of partnering companies have committed a combined funding of $23 million to support this ambitious project.
