On July 2, Petroecuador, Ecuador's state-owned oil company, announced that due to intense rainfall, the water flow in the Río Loco, located in the Napo Province, had surged. To safeguard both infrastructure and the environment, the company has proactively suspended the operations of two oil pipelines. Professional technicians are currently working around the clock to construct a bypass pipeline, which is anticipated to be completed within three days. This measure comes after an oil pipeline leak in the area on March 22. Ecuador heavily relies on oil as its primary export, with a daily production of approximately 500,000 barrels.
