However, the EU is keen on securing tariff reductions for vital industries, including pharmaceuticals, alcohol, semiconductors, and commercial aircraft, while also seeking quotas and exemptions to alleviate the tariff burden on products like automobiles, steel, and aluminum. Should negotiations fail to yield an agreement, the EU intends to retaliate by imposing tariffs on US goods worth $21 billion and $95 billion respectively.
