Google has partnered with Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS), an MIT spin-off enterprise, to secure 200 megawatts of clean electricity from its forthcoming ARC facility—the world's first grid-scale fusion power plant. Slated to begin operations in Virginia in the early 2030s, this pioneering plant aims to generate 400 megawatts of zero-carbon electricity, capable of meeting the energy demands of approximately 150,000 households. Beyond its initial investment, Google will continue to support CFS's endeavors and fund additional fusion energy projects, fostering advancements in clean energy technology.
