Akazawa Ryosei, the Minister of Economic Regeneration for Japan, has stated that significant disparities remain in the ongoing tariff negotiations between Japan and the United States. He emphatically declared that Japan cannot accept a 25% tariff on automobiles and expressed concern regarding the impending expiration of additional reciprocal tariffs on July 9th. Minister Akazawa expressed hope that consultations will continue in order to reach a consensus on the matter.
