Following its initial unveiling at the CES 2025 exhibition, the HDMI Forum has now officially released the comprehensive specification for the HDMI 2.2 standard. This specification confirms long-standing rumors, doubling the maximum bandwidth of HDMI 2.1 to an impressive 96 Gbps, thereby surpassing the capabilities of DisplayPort. This substantial increase will empower users with support for higher resolutions and faster refresh rates, catering seamlessly to the demands of data-intensive applications and immersive experiences. Additionally, HDMI 2.2 introduces a latency indicator protocol, enhancing audio-video synchronization performance. The Ultra96 HDMI cable, which supports this new standard, has also been confirmed, guaranteeing high-speed and efficient data transmission.
