Japan Premieres 'Long-Range' Missile Launch Training on Home Soil

On the 24th, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) conducted a groundbreaking launch training exercise for the domestically manufactured "Type 88 Surface-to-Ship Missile" at the Shizunai Air Defense Firing Range in Hokkaido. This marks the first time Japan has conducted such training for a missile with a range exceeding 100 kilometers within its own territory. Previously, Japan had consistently opted to conduct these missile launch trainings overseas. During the training, local citizen groups staged protests in front of the Self-Defense Force base.
