The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) has recently unveiled the revised national standard for "Limit Values of Energy Consumption and Energy Efficiency Grades for Household Refrigerators," scheduled for implementation on June 1, 2026. This updated standard not only broadens its scope of application but also elevates the benchmarks for energy efficiency indicators. Additionally, it introduces new regulations concerning volume utilization rate and smart grid signal response capabilities. Using a 500-liter side-by-side refrigerator as an illustration, its daily power consumption will decline from 0.92 kWh to 0.55 kWh under the new standard, marking a significant 40% reduction. Projections indicate that the effective enforcement of this new standard is anticipated to save an impressive 13 billion kWh of electricity annually.
