Ubuntu contributors are currently working on a revamped trash can icon, poised to make its debut in the Dock bar with the release of Ubuntu version 25.10 in October. The concept for redesigning the Ubuntu trash can icon was first floated in 2019, with discussions concluding in March of that year. However, in May of this year, the discussions were reignited, and the icon design plan has since undergone continuous refinement. The objective of this new icon design is to enhance the existing icon, making it more intuitive and representative of the trash can's functionality.
