Recently, a number of Windows 11 users have encountered an issue where they are unable to open the Chrome browser after enabling parental controls through Microsoft's Family Safety feature. Notably, other applications remain unaffected. This problem has persisted for 17 days without an official fix from Microsoft. Google has confirmed that the issue stems from Microsoft's Family Safety feature.
To temporarily resolve the problem, users can either disable the "Block inappropriate websites" option or rename the Chrome executable file (for example, changing chrome.exe to chrome1.exe). The Family Safety feature, designed to assist parents in monitoring their children's online activities, has again brought into question its system compatibility.
Some critics have suggested that Microsoft might be subtly steering users towards its own products. However, it's worth noting that in recent years, under the scrutiny of the European Union, Microsoft has shown more restraint in such practices.
