Pinduoduo's Community Group Buying is currently testing self-constructed commodity warehouses in Shanghai and other major cities, with plans to introduce instant delivery services as early as August. Initially, the focus will be on establishing front-end warehouses in Shanghai, followed by a gradual expansion to other cities. For delivery services, Community Group Buying is considering partnerships with companies like Flash Express and SF Express City. Pinduoduo has clarified that while it does not intend to engage in the instant retail battle, this initiative aims to enhance delivery efficiency in response to competitive pressures from platforms such as Meituan Flash Delivery. Currently, the project is in its nascent experimental phase, with a budget of hundreds of millions of yuan, under the direct leadership of Pinduoduo's co-CEO. This strategic move seeks to identify new growth avenues, safeguard the core business, and avoid the pitfalls of a heavy asset model.
