On June 20, a sleek and agile quadruped robot was successfully deployed to inspect the heat transfer tubes of steam generators in China's indigenous third-generation nuclear power technology, the "Hualong One" unit. This innovative robot is the result of a collaborative effort between Harbin Engineering University, China General Nuclear Power Detection Technology Co., Ltd., and Yangjiang Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. The robot's design allows it to precisely insert its probe into the tubes, gathering critical health data on the heat transfer systems. This groundbreaking achievement has been seamlessly integrated into engineering applications across various reactor types, dramatically enhancing inspection coverage while efficiently reducing construction timelines and maintenance expenses.
