China's three leading telecom operators are poised to fully revive eSIM service processing in the latter half of this year. Currently, China Unicom has already reintroduced the service in 25 provinces and cities. China Mobile, on the other hand, is fine-tuning its system in anticipation of a gradual nationwide rollout. Meanwhile, China Telecom is yet to support the service and has not disclosed a specific timeline for its upgrade. Previously, in 2023, all three operators temporarily halted the eSIM watch's one-number dual-terminal and standalone eSIM card services for maintenance and upgrades. However, existing users who had already applied for these services can continue using them but cannot reapply after cancellation. The one-number dual-terminal service enables two devices to share the same phone number and plan, while the standalone eSIM service offers dedicated tariffs.
