Honda has announced the successful completion of the maiden 300-meter vertical takeoff and landing test of its self-developed reusable rocket prototype. During this pioneering test, the rocket soared to a height of 271.4 meters and touched down with remarkable precision, deviating by just 37 centimeters. This significant milestone validates crucial technologies encompassing flight control, stability, and pinpoint landing accuracy. Born from the visionary aspirations of Honda engineers, this project leverages the company's deep technological expertise in combustion control and precise maneuvering. The ultimate goal is to attain near-Earth orbit flight capability by 2029. In the foreseeable future, this rocket could potentially be utilized for satellite launches, fostering synergies with Honda's existing services. Currently, the project remains in the active research and development phase, with commercial application plans yet to be delineated.
