The European Commission has declared that, effective January 1, 2026, liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals will be prohibited from servicing Russian clients. Currently existing short-term agreements may be extended until June 2026, whereas long-term contracts will conclude by the end of 2027. Following this transition period, the provision of services to Russian clients will be fully prohibited, and importers will be required to demonstrate that the natural gas they import does not originate from Russia.
