On June 12, President Trump intends to ink the cornerstone provisions of the US-UK trade deal, seeking to slash tariffs on British automobile exports to the United States in return for granting American beef and ethanol products access to the UK market. Prior to this, on May 8, Trump and Starmer had already formalized the Economic Prosperity Agreement at the White House. Now, over a month later, the "cars for agriculture" accord is on the verge of fruition. According to British negotiators involved in the discussions, both parties are still in consultations regarding the terms of the agreement that would allow UK steel manufacturers to enter the US market duty-free. Currently, British officials are hopeful that the agreement will be sealed by the close of this week.
