The US solar panel installation company Sunnova Energy announced on Sunday that it had filed for bankruptcy protection in Texas, citing overwhelming debts and a sluggish demand environment. Earlier this year, in March, the company had issued a warning that it might not be able to sustain its operations. To mitigate costs, Sunnova announced last week that it would be laying off approximately 55% of its workforce, amounting to 718 employees. According to court documents, the company's estimated assets and liabilities range between $10 billion and $50 billion.
