The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Civil Affairs have jointly announced the launch of a pilot project for collaborative research and field application of smart elderly care service robots, spanning from 2025 to 2027. The announcement underscores the importance of enhancing relevant standards and evaluation systems, urging product development and pilot application units to collaboratively research standards tailored to smart elderly care robots, with a sharp focus on scene-specific needs and application safety. This collaborative effort aims to establish comprehensive product and service standards and specifications. Furthermore, the notice emphasizes the formulation of product evaluation criteria encompassing safety, reliability, elderly suitability, and cost-effectiveness. Crucially, the ministries are guiding the industry to design and develop these robots by deeply considering the physiological and psychological characteristics, as well as the service needs of the elderly population. This approach aims to elevate the products' suitability for aging, intelligence, and overall safety and reliability.
