The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has issued a clarification regarding the regulatory framework for Digital Token Service Providers (DTSPs). Effective from June 30, DTSPs operating in Singapore but exclusively serving overseas clients with services like digital payment tokens and capital market product tokens are mandated to obtain a license, or risk facing service blockage. This measure is necessitated by the elevated risk of money laundering associated with such operations and the challenges MAS faces in effectively supervising activities conducted outside Singapore's borders.
