Mexican President Peña Nieto condemned the United States' imposition of tariffs on steel and aluminum as both unfair and lacking a solid legal foundation. He stressed the existence of an existing trade agreement between Mexico and the US. President Peña Nieto announced his intention to deliberate countermeasures with the Chamber of Commerce, while the Minister of Economic Affairs will engage in discussions with the US as well. Should negotiations prove unsuccessful, Mexico will adopt responsive measures.
