CITIC Securities' latest research report reveals that during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, cross-regional travel increased by 3.0% year-on-year, slightly undershooting the pre-holiday projections from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. This growth rate was down from the May Day holiday, primarily attributed to unfavorable weather conditions, including rainfall. Nevertheless, niche segments such as short-distance tours, themed tours, and nearby inbound and outbound travel exhibited robust growth trends, showcasing notable structural highlights. At the provincial and municipal levels, passenger flow remained generally stable, although some scenic spots were impacted by the rainy weather. Compared to the May Day holiday, hotel RevPAR performance declined year-on-year, yet the trend towards higher consumption levels persisted. Looking ahead, the leisure tourism industry is anticipated to thrive further in 2025. In the medium to long term, the share of service industry consumption and the demand for experiential travel are poised to continue growing.
