The QA testing team at Microsoft's ZeniMax division has recently inked a preliminary contract agreement with the Communications Workers of America (CWA). This groundbreaking accord encompasses approximately 300 testers who collectively organized into a union via the CWA in 2023. The newly negotiated contract stipulates a generous 13.5% pay hike, effective as of July 1st, alongside provisions addressing the utilization of artificial intelligence. Union members are scheduled to cast their votes on the contract on June 20th. Notably, the ZeniMax QA team marks the first Microsoft team to establish a union, contributing to a growing movement with over 2,000 Microsoft video game professionals now unionized.
