The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the National Energy Administration (NEA) have jointly issued a directive instructing regions with continuously operational electricity spot markets to progressively ease price limits, refine market rules to effectively manage peak shaving, and discontinue markets with overlapping functionalities. Additionally, they will oversee the revision of ancillary services market implementation rules to uphold a fair and competitive environment. This strategic initiative aims to holistically expedite the development of electricity spot markets, targeting substantial full coverage by the end of 2025.
