The United States Department of Justice has announced the dissolution of the National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team (NCET), redirecting its focus to cryptocurrency-related investigations. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche criticized the prior administration for overzealous regulation through prosecutions, stating that the Department of Justice should not act as a regulator for digital assets. Moving forward, the Department will concentrate on prosecuting actions that harm digital asset investors, along with criminal syndicates and terrorist organizations that use digital currencies to fund illegal activities. This shift signifies a departure from cases targeting cryptocurrency exchanges, mixers, and offline wallets.
