On November 3, Binance released the preliminary findings of its investigation into the security incident that occurred on October 29. The incident involved approximately USD 6.34 billion in digital assets, and as of the announcement, about USD 2.85 billion had been frozen or intercepted. Binance said that as of October 31, 98% of the affected tokens had been replenished, with the remaining low-liquidity assets currently being procured. Binance will bear all losses rather than passing them on to users, and has rebuilt its systems, strengthened security controls, and engaged an independent third-party cybersecurity firm to review the incident, verify the results, and provide recommendations for improvement.
