On September 1, the world witnessed a groundbreaking achievement in maritime engineering with the completion of the first-ever 325,000-deadweight-ton (DWT) methanol dual-fuel ore carrier in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province. This remarkable vessel has been christened the MV Yuan Hai Si Lu. It stands out as the first ship globally to be equipped with a state-of-the-art digital delivery system, marking significant strides in China's shipbuilding sector, particularly in the realms of green propulsion and digital delivery technologies.

The ship's design is a collaborative effort between COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry and the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute. Stretching an impressive 339.9 meters in length and boasting a width of 62 meters, this colossal vessel has a deadweight capacity of 325,000 tons. Throughout its construction, the MV Yuan Hai Si Lu achieved several pivotal technological advancements in the application of methanol fuel. Notably, its cargo hold capacity has been expanded by over 40% compared to traditional ore carriers of a similar size, setting a new benchmark in the industry.
