On the 2nd, Krishnan, the Secretary of India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, announced that the government has initiated an investigation into the significant data breach at Tata Electronics. This marks the Indian government's first official comment on the incident. Krishnan mentioned that an inquiry is underway, and the matter has been escalated to the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), the agency under the Indian government tasked with cybersecurity responsibilities.
Tata Electronics, a key supplier of Apple components and one of the primary contract manufacturers for Apple phones in India, has been targeted. According to Reuters, an unidentified group recently exfiltrated a substantial volume of confidential, unpublished data from Tata Electronics and subsequently uploaded it to the dark web. This leaked data includes supply chain details for components of the yet-to-be-released iPhone 18 Pro, as well as testing materials related to the model.
