Amazon has announced that it has deployed 396 satellites in low-Earth orbit, sufficient to support its own satellite internet service, 'Amazon Leo,' officially launching competition against SpaceX's 'Starlink.' Amazon originally planned to deploy at least 1,618 satellites by July 30, 2026, but failed to meet this deadline. The FCC has approved an extension of the final deployment deadline to July 30, 2029.
