On Monday, the European Investment Bank (EIB) unveiled its decision to grant Airbus a monumental €3 billion (equivalent to approximately $3.42 billion) loan—the largest corporate loan in the bank's history. Notably, the initial tranche of €1 billion has already been formalized through a signing ceremony in Brussels. These funds are earmarked to bolster Airbus's research and development endeavors through to 2030, spanning pivotal sectors such as commercial aviation, security, and defense. The projects, strategically situated across France, Germany, and Spain, are poised to drive innovation and growth.

Nadia Calviño, President of the European Investment Bank, emphasized the bank's unwavering dedication to fortifying Europe's technological sovereignty, industrial prowess, and economic resilience. She highlighted that the swift application and approval process for Airbus, completed in roughly six months, underscores Europe's capacity to provide robust and timely support to its industry leaders, fostering a competitive edge on the global stage.
