China’s groundbreaking high-altitude integrated photovoltaic-hydrogen storage project—the Huadian Delingha 1,000 MW Photovoltaic Storage and 3 MW Photovoltaic Hydrogen Production Project—has achieved a significant milestone by accumulating over 4 billion kWh of electricity generation. Situated in Delingha City, within the Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province, this project encompasses the construction of a 3 MW hydrogen production station, a 330 kV booster station, and a substantial 270 MW/1,080 MWh energy storage power station. As one of China’s inaugural large-scale wind and solar power base projects located in desert (Gobi, a recognized proper noun for this desert region), Gobi, and arid areas, it represents China’s pioneering foray into producing green hydrogen from renewable energy sources in high-altitude environments.
