In response to user concerns over C drive space consumption, WPS has concluded its investigation and implemented optimizations. The updated version, released in July, introduces a path selection option in the installation interface, along with a new 'Storage Management' module on the settings page. This module offers a centralized view of the space occupied by different file types and the available space that can be reclaimed. These enhancements are designed to empower users to clearly understand and independently manage their local storage usage. Previously, the hashtag “Betrayed by WPS” trended on social media, highlighting user anxieties about storage usage, data security, and business practices. In response, Kingsoft Office clarified that a dedicated team has been formed to investigate these issues, and assured users that modifying storage locations, clearing local caches, and performing backup operations are all provided free of charge, without requiring a subscription. Additionally, users can now select custom installation paths. WPS previously explained that the C drive space usage is mainly for retaining cached copies of cloud documents, a standard practice among cloud storage services.
