According to a report by the Financial Times, CATL, the world's largest battery manufacturer, is going "all in" to promote the electrification of the global shipping industry, extending its successful experience in the electric vehicle sector to the maritime domain. To demonstrate its commitment, Su Yi, head of its marine business unit, stated that there are plans to more than double the team size to around 500 people this year. Su said that the current focus is on producing batteries that meet the "extremely high" requirements for operation on water, such as long battery cell lifespan and safety in marine environments. Although CATL declined to disclose sales targets, a spokesperson expressed confidence in the "strong market potential."
