According to a research report released by China Securities, China’s fiber optic exports soared to 3,779.9 tons in February this year, with an export value reaching 790 million yuan, marking significant year-on-year growth of 63.6% and 126.8%, respectively. After calculation, it is estimated that China exported approximately 25.2 million core kilometers of fiber optics in February, accounting for roughly 65% of the nation’s monthly effective fiber optic output. When factoring in the fiber optics included in cable exports, the export proportion climbs even higher. From the perspective of export value, the impact of fiber optic price hikes on performance is not anticipated to be substantial in the first quarter. Presently, there is a notable surge in overseas demand for fiber optics manufactured in China, with Chinese fiber optic suppliers witnessing robust product sales. Consequently, the market need not be overly concerned with the centralized procurement of fiber optics by domestic telecom operators. Overall, demand from overseas telecom networks, AI, drones, and other sectors is collectively fueling rapid growth in fiber optic demand, resulting in sustained price increases. The industry is currently in a high-growth phase, and it is advisable to maintain close monitoring of the fiber optic sector.
